The standard EN ISO 20471 specifies safety requirements and test methods for high-visibility protective clothing that makes the wearer conspicuous in dangerous situations, in any daytime lighting condition and when lit by headlights in the dark. This standard defines the performance class (x), related to the surface of retro-reflective and fluorescent material (3 levels, where 3 is the highest level).
The standard specifies, in relation to the class, a minimum area of fluorescent material and retro-reflective material in which the garment must be made.
